Alumni Profile
Many students from Tony Kasulinous' high school, Chicopee High School in Massachusetts, had attended Southern Vermont College. Tony was looking for a small liberal arts college with a strong English program. He felt certain, based upon what he had heard, that this was the College for him. Turns out, after numerous tours and visits to the SVC campus, as well as to other sites, that Southern Vermont College was indeed the best fit for Tony. He enrolled in 1990 as an English major and graduated in 1994 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English with a minor in
Psychology. While at Southern Vermont College, Tony played soccer under Coaches Jean Marc Cowles and Raymond Nause. Teammates included Scott Moulton, John Joe Monohan, Steve Monohan, Kenneth LaBonte, Nate Garland, Jason Kennedy, Mark Tibbetts, Derek Lawson, Jamie Kasulinous, Mike Szafran, Mac Munz, Jason Kasley, Terrence Lowe, Kevin Lomuscio, Mike Paine, Ed Roach, and Brett Leonis. He was a member of the Colonial States
Conference Championship Teams in 1991 and 1993, the first such honors for any team in SVC history, and received many individual athletic awards in his playing days. For just over a year, Tony has been employed in Education Administration as the Director of Student Life and Athletics at Long Trail School in Dorset, Vermont. His responsibilities include developing and administering the school's physical education curriculum in addition to overseeing all non-academic programs, including student government, school trips--both local and abroad--student social events, the school's community service program, and
day-to-day operations of the Athletics Department. Tony recently developed Long Trail School's first middle school physical education curriculum--a program that adheres to Vermont State Academic Standards and remains true to the mission of the school. In addition to his administrative responsibilities, Tony also serves as a Physical Education Teacher. He is fortunate to say that he truly loves his work Prior to joining the staff at the Long Trail School, Tony worked for seven years coordinating the Intensive Needs Program for Mount Anthony Union Middle School in Bennington, Vermont. In this capacity, Tony taught math, English, social studies, and science to "at-risk" students. Other employment opportunities included tutoring at Fisher Elementary School and Upward Bound and coaching at Southern Vermont
College. Tony is currently an active member of the Vermont Principal's Association, Vermont State Athletic Directors Association, National Federation of State High School Association, National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association, National Association of Student Councils, and National Soccer Coaches Association of America. In his spare time, Tony enjoys reading, writing, hiking, biking, fishing, and volleyball. From 1995-1997, he enjoyed a brief stint playing professional soccer and training with Division III and A-League clubs (Albany Alleycats and Connecticut Wolves). He continues to play soccer in the Southern Vermont Amateur Soccer League. Tony was married to Tracy Ann Harrington on October 19, 2002. They are currently celebrating the birth of their first child, Madelyn Elizabeth Kasulinous, born August 14, 2003. Their growing family resides in Bennington.
