Alumni Profile
As an international student, Flavia confronted the challenges of academics, while learning the intricacies of an unfamiliar culture. She credits this education in life experience with bringing her strength and confidence. So far from home, the small size of the College was a comfort to Flavia, and she felt like a daughter to many of the faculty and staff members. Flavia did well in both her academics and in her life
experience lessons. Flavia, who is the Communications Coordinator at the British Council Sao Paulo Office in Brazil, attributes her experiences at Southern Vermont College to her current success. She oversees events' publicity and organizes some of them. She also serves as Executive Assistant to the Director of the Sao Paulo Office. In addition to her busy work schedule, Flavia has volunteered at a drug recovery center and is involved in youth ministry. While at Southern Vermont College, Flavia played soccer during the '88 and '91 seasons. She keeps in touch with many of her college friends, including Annmarie White Kampf and Carol Ann Murray. After graduating in 1991, Flavia returned to Brazil. During the next three years, she had opportunities to visit London for pleasure, Pennsylvania to intern with a commercial production agency, and even to return to Vermont to serve as the interim Director for the Center for Cultural Exchange at Southern Vermont College. In 1994, Flavia returned again to the U.S. to serve as the Youth Director for the Trinity United Methodist Church in Charles City, Iowa.
